Open Settings inside GEARIT and tap Restore purchase. Your purchase is held by Apple against your Apple ID, not by us and not on the phone, so restoring is free, takes a second, and works on every device you sign in to. This is the fix after reinstalling the app, resetting a phone, or getting a new one.
If restoring says no purchase was found, check you're signed in to the same Apple ID you bought it with. Family members sharing a family group are covered too.
The diagnosis. Free GEARIT tells you which side of your setup is weak — that video is holding you back while audio is fine. The unlock names the exact piece of gear behind it and what it's costing you, gives you every other finding, ranks what to buy and in what order so your money goes to the thing that moves the score most, and switches on side-by-side Compare.
It's one payment, not a subscription, and it doesn't expire. Everything that was free stays free: the full catalog, search, finding gear the app doesn't know, building and wiring your rig, and your setup score.
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us — we never take your payment and can't reverse it. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides these, and they're usually generous with a genuine reason.
Search for it by name anyway. When nothing in the catalog fits, the last row of the results offers to go and find it — accept, and it comes back as a real product with its actual ports and connection directions, ready to drop straight onto the board and into Compare. It gets filed on its maker's own shelf, so a PreSonus interface lands with the other PreSonus gear.
Every found item is labelled so you know how much to trust it: identified means the real specifications were looked up, worked out means it was reasoned from the closest thing in the catalog, and already here means it turned out to be in the app all along under a name you didn't type.
If something comes back wrong, email us the exact product name and what's wrong with it. Real corrections go into the catalog.
GEARIT refuses connections that wouldn't work in real life — an output can't go to another output, and a socket can't take a plug it doesn't physically accept. If it's blocking something you have wired up and working on your actual desk, that's a bug in our port data rather than a rule. Send us both product names and which sockets you're using and we'll fix it.
Recognition works best on a clearly visible item in decent light, filling a good part of the frame, without heavy glare on the badge. Cluttered desks are genuinely hard.
It's not the only way in, and often not the fastest: searching by name is exact, and it's how you'll add anything without a visible label. Nothing in the app requires the camera.
They're analysed on the phone and never leave it. No image is uploaded, stored on a server, or kept after the scan. Full detail is on the privacy page.
If you never signed in, delete the app: everything GEARIT knows — your setups, scans, scores and found gear — is stored only on your device and in your own iCloud, so removing the app and turning off its iCloud backup removes all of it.
If you did sign in, there is also a copy on our server so your setup can follow you to another device. Delete that from inside the app: Settings → Your account → Delete your account. It erases the stored copy and ends every session. The full walk-through is on the account deletion page.
They come across if you restore the new device from an iCloud or computer backup of the old one, and they come across on their own if you signed in. Your unlock is separate and always follows your Apple ID — tap Restore purchase in Settings.
GEARIT needs iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. It runs on iPhone and iPad, and on an Apple silicon Mac it runs the iPad version in its own window. An internet connection is only needed to find gear that isn't already in the catalog — everything else, including the entire catalog and the full diagnosis, works offline.
