There is no account, no sign-in and no profile. GEARIT never asks for your name, your email or your phone number, and it has no way to identify you or link one session to another. This page explains the whole picture, including the one thing that does leave your phone.
Everything you build stays on your device. Photos you take are analysed on the phone and never uploaded. The only thing ever sent off the device is a product name you type in, and only when you ask GEARIT to find a piece of gear it doesn't already know — a name like "Tonor TC30", never a photo and never anything about you.
All of the following is stored only in GEARIT's own storage on your device. It is not sent anywhere, not backed up to us, and not readable by us or anyone else:
Deleting the app deletes all of it. If your device backs itself up to iCloud, that backup is between you and Apple — we have no access to it.
GEARIT asks for camera access so it can recognise gear you point it at. Those images are processed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device Vision framework. No photo, frame or video is uploaded, stored on a server, or kept after the scan. If you'd rather not grant camera access, every other part of the app still works — you can build a setup by searching for your gear by name instead.
When you search for something the built-in catalog has never heard of, GEARIT offers to go and find it. If you accept, the text you typed is sent to our own service so the product's specifications can be worked out and sent back.
What is sent: the search text. That's the entire request.
What is not sent: your name, email, device identifier, advertising identifier, location, your setup, your other gear, your scores, or any photo.
Like every web server, the hosting provider (Vercel) records standard request logs, which include the IP address the request came from, for a short period and for security and reliability purposes. We don't use those logs to build any profile of you, and they aren't connected to anything else in the app because there is nothing to connect them to. Answers about a piece of gear are cached and reused so that the same product doesn't have to be looked up twice — the cache holds facts about equipment, not about people.
GEARIT's one-off unlock is sold by Apple through the App Store. Your payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your card details, your Apple ID, or your name. The app asks Apple a single yes-or-no question: does this Apple ID own the unlock? Nothing about that answer is stored by us or sent anywhere.
Because Apple holds the receipt, your purchase follows you. Reinstalling the app or moving to a new phone restores it for free with the Restore button in Settings.
GEARIT is intended for a general audience and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through the app, please get in touch and we'll look into it — though by design there is no mechanism by which that could happen.
Data-protection law gives you rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. In GEARIT's case there is a simpler answer: we hold none, so there is nothing to request and nothing to erase on our side. Everything the app knows is on your own device and under your control, and deleting the app removes it.
If GEARIT ever starts doing something this page doesn't describe, this page gets updated before that happens, and the date at the top changes. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
