Terms of Service

GEARIT — Terms of Service

Effective 11 October 2026 · Last updated 31 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Iam The Protagonist Ltd, trading as GEARIT and The It Group ("we", "us"). We are a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 16842280, registered office 60 Hay Lane, London, NW9 0NB. Email: theitgroupapps@gmail.com.

By creating an account, downloading or using GEARIT (the "app") you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

1. What GEARIT does

GEARIT keeps track of your camera, audio, lighting and computer gear in one place. You add what you own, wire it together on a board, and the app scores the setup and points out its weakest link. It also helps you plan what to buy next to a budget, compare products side by side, keep serial numbers and receipts for insurance, and share a public list of your gear if you want to.

Prices, values and product details are estimates. Catalog prices are UK reference prices, converted into your currency with exchange rates from third-party services (the European Central Bank's rates through Frankfurter, and ExchangeRate-API). Details about gear the catalog didn't already know are worked out by a third-party service from the name you typed. Scores, recommendations and values are a guide, not a valuation, a quote or professional advice. Check a price with the seller and a value with your insurer before relying on it.

2. Who can use it

3. Your licence to use the app

We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own use, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from. You may not copy, modify, sell, rent, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app, or use it to build a competing product. Everything in the app that isn't yours — the design, the code, the name, the logos — belongs to us or our licensors.

4. Purchases

5. Gear lists you share, and how people treat each other

6. Acceptable use

Don't: break the law; interfere with the app or anyone else's use of it; probe or overload our systems; scrape or harvest data; use bots; bypass any security or payment; or use the app for anything it isn't for. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

7. Third-party services

The app uses services we don't control — Apple and Google for sign-in, backup and billing; Vercel and Upstash for hosting; Anthropic for identifying gear the catalog doesn't know; and Frankfurter and ExchangeRate-API for exchange rates. Each has its own terms, and we aren't responsible for them. Links out of the app, such as a web search for a product, go to sites we don't run.

8. Availability and changes

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it running but don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, pause or withdraw any feature. If we withdraw the app entirely we'll give reasonable notice and you can export what's yours before then where the app supports it.

9. Our liability — read this one

10. Ending things

11. Apple and Google

If you downloaded the app from the App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to support or maintain the app; if the app fails to meet a warranty you may tell Apple, who may refund the price you paid, and beyond that Apple has no warranty obligation; Apple is not responsible for any claim relating to the app or your use of it; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you aren't in a country under a US government embargo and aren't on any US government list of prohibited parties. If you downloaded it from Google Play, Google's own terms also apply to the download and to anything you buy through Google.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top changes when we do, and for anything that materially affects you we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Using the app after that date means you accept the new terms; if you don't, stop using the app.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there, and nothing here takes away protections you have under the law of where you live. If you have a complaint, email theitgroupapps@gmail.com first and we'll try to sort it out within 14 days. UK consumers can also use the online dispute resolution options the Citizens Advice consumer service points to.

14. Everything else

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the app. If any part is found unenforceable the rest still applies. We may transfer our rights under these terms to another company in a sale or reorganisation; you may not transfer yours. Not enforcing a term once doesn't mean we've given it up.

15. Copyright complaints

If you think something on a shared gear page infringes your copyright, tell our designated copyright agent:
